This region has something for everyone, with a variety of reef breaks ranging in intensity from mellow, shreddable walls to heavy, hollow barrels. Some of the most famous North Malé Atolls’ surf breaks include Lohis, Jailbreaks, Honkeys, Sultans, Ninjas, Cokes (Colas) and Chickens.
The surf season in the North Malé Atolls is similar to Indonesia, with the best waves on offer from March through to October. If you’re chasing bigger waves, you’re likely to see more swell throughout June, July and August. The surf generally ranges in size from 2ft to 8ft, with some bigger swells popping up throughout the year. Winds are normally from the west (off-shore), with swell direction mainly from the south/south-east.
The ever-consistent Lohis Left is only a short walk from your villa at Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort, with another six quality waves nearby, all within a 20-minute dhoni ride away. These waves are accessible via the resort’s surf transfer service, operating twice daily.
